Maggie Dyer

Georgia Teachers Initiative Grant Winner

Ms. Dyer will use the Teacher Grant for Innovation to purchase a VersaTile Classroom Literacy Kit, which includes student books, a teacher guide, and eight VersaTile manipulatives, plus an additional 16 manipulatives so every student can participate. VersaTiles are tactile tools that transform essential literacy practice into an interactive, hands‑on experience, motivating learners and reinforcing core skills. In her student‑centered classroom, these manipulatives support whole‑class lessons, stations, small groups, and remediation, enabling learners to track progress and take ownership of their literacy development. By integrating VersaTiles, the initiative enriches traditional skills practice, deepens engagement, and improves learning outcomes.

Innovation is central to my teaching practice. I design lessons that encourage creativity, critical thinking, active learning, and empower students to reach their full potential. By incorporating new instructional strategies and tools, I foster a dynamic classroom where students are engaged and motivated. I am committed to continuously improving my approach, exploring innovative methods rather than relying on traditional techniques. This mindset ensures that my students receive the most effective, up-to-date learning experiences, helping them grow academically and personally. Innovation allows me to better meet diverse learning needs and inspire students to become lifelong learners.
