October 22, 2026 – The Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) and the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) today announced a partnership to launch an enhanced statewide educator job board, bringing together GaPSC’s TeachGeorgia and GaDOE’s Teach in the Peach initiatives to strengthen teacher recruitment and reduce educator vacancies across the state.
Expected to launch in January 2027, the new platform will make it easier for prospective educators to find and apply for positions in Georgia schools while reducing administrative work for local school districts. Developed in partnership with PowerSchool, the enhanced job board will automatically pull job postings from district recruitment websites and update statewide listings in real time, eliminating the need for duplicate data entry for most districts. Open positions will also receive greater exposure through national job platforms, such as Indeed.
“It became apparent during our development of SR 237, Georgia’s Strategic Plan for Educator Recruitment and Retention, that we needed better cross-agency data governance,” said Dr. Joseph Barrow, Executive Secretary of the Georgia Professional Standards Commission. “With the collaboration of the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) and the Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) we have done just that. Partnering with PowerSchool we have taken two very strong platforms, Teach in the Peach and TeachGeorgia, and consolidated them, giving us a way to work smarter rather than harder. We have expanded our recruitment reach from just within our state, to a national platform. Our ultimate goal is to not only be the best state in the nation to do business, but also be the top state in the nation for the education profession! These and other collaborative, strategic partnerships will be an excellent way to leverage that vision!”
The enhanced platform will provide a centralized, user-friendly experience where job seekers can search openings statewide, explore opportunities by location, and receive alerts about positions that match their interests. It will be designed to work with districts’ existing recruitment systems, with particular benefits for smaller and rural districts seeking to reach a wider pool of qualified applicants.
“Making Georgia the No. 1 state for teachers to teach means doing more than encouraging people to enter the profession. We also have to make it easier for them to find opportunities in our schools,” State School Superintendent Richard Woods said. “We’re grateful to Dr. Barrow and the Professional Standards Commission for their partnership in this work, which will help us connect more talented educators with the students and communities who need them, while taking unnecessary work off the plates of our local school districts. It’s a practical, meaningful step forward in our efforts to recruit and retain great teachers across Georgia.”
The enhanced job board complements GaDOE’s Teach in the Peach initiative, which works to make Georgia the No. 1 state for teachers to teach by attracting, recognizing, and retaining excellent educators. It builds on the legacy TeachGeorgia platform and directly advances recommendations from Georgia’s Strategic Plan for Educator Recruitment and Retention, developed in response to 2025’s Senate Resolution 237. The plan identifies improved statewide recruitment tools, reduced administrative burdens, and stronger cross-agency data sharing as priorities for addressing Georgia’s educator workforce needs.
Beyond connecting teacher candidates with job opportunities, the new platform will provide more timely statewide data on educator vacancies and hiring trends. This information is intended to support the state’s broader educator workforce data efforts, helping state agencies and local districts identify areas of greatest recruitment need and direct additional support where it is most needed.
The project has moved forward with initial support from the State Board of Education, with GaDOE and GaPSC continuing to work toward the long-term sustainability of this statewide recruitment resource.
Once launched, the new statewide job board will be accessible through teachgeorgia.org and teachinthepeach.org. Additional implementation information will be shared with school districts ahead of the January launch.
