Rachel Kinsaul is the 2026 Georgia Teacher of the Year, a National Teacher of the Year Finalist, and an agricultural education teacher at Morgan County High School. A Milken Educator Award recipient, she is passionate about experiential learning, student leadership, and preparing students for careers in agriculture and beyond.

What’s one piece of advice you would give to someone considering teaching?

Getting to share your passion with students and watching them succeed is a gift. This profession helps students navigate the world around them. Who wouldn’t want to be a part of that?

What’s one piece of advice you would give to new teachers?

One piece of advice I’d give new teachers is this: be 10% bolder than you think you can be. The best opportunities in education often come from saying “yes” before you have everything figured out. Jump in, build relationships, and don’t be afraid to try something new—you’ll grow right alongside your students.

Why do you choose to stay in education?

I have fun every single day because I’ve found the perfect place for me. Sometimes that takes a little movement, but once your find your home, you’re set!

Why did you choose to teach in an (urban, rural, small, large, etc.) school system?

I love the small community feel. One of my favorite things is running into my students “in the wild”, and it helps me build relationships with them.
