If you’re considering teaching, remember that your impact extends far beyond the classroom. Teach with patience, lead with compassion, and never underestimate the power of believing in a student before they believe in themselves.
Give yourself grace. You won’t have all the answers on day one, and that’s okay. Focus on building meaningful relationships with your students—those connections will become the foundation for effective teaching and lasting impact.
I choose to stay in education because I believe every young person deserves someone who sees their potential before they see it themselves. Education gives me the opportunity to inspire, empower, and create pathways that change lives—not just for today, but for generations to come.
I chose to teach in an urban school district because I wanted to make a difference where the need is greatest. I believe every student, regardless of their background or circumstances, deserves access to high-quality education, meaningful opportunities, and an educator who believes in their potential. Serving in an urban district has allowed me to empower students, build strong community relationships, and help prepare young people for successful futures.
Education is more than my profession—it’s my purpose. Whether in the classroom or at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Augusta, I am committed to creating opportunities that expose young people to careers, leadership, and experiences that broaden their vision for the future. My goal is to ensure every student knows they are capable, valued, and equipped to succeed.
