A Teach in the Peach Ambassador

I am a special education leader with 14 years of experience dedicated to empowering students and educators. As a Teach in the Peach Ambassador, I advocate for teacher recruitment and retention while advancing instructional leadership, mentoring educators, and creating inclusive learning environments that foster student and teacher success.

Know your purpose. Don’t strive to be the perfect teacher; strive to be a purposeful one. Every lesson you teach, degree you earn, organization you join, and conference you attend should align with your purpose and calling. Let every opportunity be intentional, meaningful, and ordered.
Find your people and establish a support system. Ask questions and don’t be afraid to speak up and get into some “good trouble.” Titles and years of experience are valid, but no one has all the answers. Teachers are lifelong learners so be willing and open to learning from others.
Without sounding cliché, I stay in education because it’s my calling. Teaching brings me joy. I love building meaningful relationships with students, learning from them as much as they learn from me, and watching them grow. There’s something incredibly powerful about knowing that a single conversation, lesson, or moment of encouragement can change the trajectory of a child’s life. That’s a responsibility I don’t take lightly, and it’s why I continue to choose education every day.
I chose to teach in a rural school system because every child deserves an excellent teacher. Students in rural communities often face unique economic and environmental hurdles outside of their control, yet they deserve the exact same access to engaging, high-quality education. I want to be the educator who inspires them to love learning and exposes them to opportunities far beyond their ZIP code. Ultimately, every child deserves a champion, and I want to be that champion for students who need it most.
