Ashley Harriman of Long County Middle School of Long County Schools will use the Teacher Grant for Innovation for her project “Voices Across the Continents: Middle Grade Storytelling.” This student-led podcast initiative blends social studies and ELA to help students research, write, and produce episodes exploring world and Georgia history, while amplifying student voice and increasing family engagement. The project fosters inclusion by offering meaningful creative roles for English learners, gifted students, and students with disabilities, from scripting and editing to storytelling. Grant funds will be used to purchase podcasting equipment, support a family showcase night, and help expand podcasting school-wide through cross-curricular integration. By combining storytelling with technology and authentic audience engagement, the project promotes deeper learning and connection between school, home, and the wider world.
